Dear everyone,Today was a relaxing and fun day for the children and myself. I'm happy to see that many were in the Chinese traditional costumes. They all look so adorable that I cannot resist snapping pictures of them. Even Vignesh had a traditional costume on! It was great seeing this kind of racial embrace in the class. I've passed the spelling list to the children today. Spelling will commence on the 6th February Monday as shown on the list and subsequent spellings on the following Mondays. For a start, only 5 words will be tested but the list will increase to a total of 10 words as the children get accustomed to spellings.MENTAL SUMSI've also requested the children to have a Mental Sums book [lined exercise book]. Mental Sums will be held fortnightly, on Wednesdays [3.30 pm - 4.00 pm] starting from next week [25th Jan 2006]. Mental sums will go like this. The teacher reads out a question [according to topic taught in class] and children will write down the answer in their book. A total of 5 short questions will be tested. I will be pasting the questions on their exercise books after each Mental Sums exercise so that you are aware of the questions tested. Some of the children had already handed up their books to me, but most of them have not. Please ensure that your child hands up his/her book by next Monday.PHOTOTAKINGThe children will be having phototaking on 25th Jan 2006 [Wed]. This is for their Student Smart Card. For correction purposes, I've requested that blue or green pen/colour pencil be used. Also, I've realized that many of the children do not have certain essential stationery items with them! For instance, ruler and eraser. The links are on the left portion of this page. Feel free to download the photos for your own viewing pleasure. I'm glad to say that the children are adapting well in class and are able to follow instructions. They are a lively group and hence I would have to assert a certain amount strictness whenever they get out of hand. I hope this would help them to develop self discipline and control. I would appreciate any form of advice from parents as to how discipline can be maintained in 1 Courage.Please take note of the updated timetable that I've sent out on Friday. I've attached a link on the left hand site of this site for your reference. There are many queries regarding Spelling. Let me clarify them here. Spelling would be on every Monday, during the period, 4.30p.m. - 5.00 p.m and would only commence on the 6th week of school.A total of 5 words would be tested on every Spelling.The spelling list has not been given the children as yet. It is not compulsory for the children to buy this book, but it is highly encouraged for them to have it!!!!! The children will definitely enjoy reading the stories written by their fellow KCPians and would definitely be motivated to write their own stories! The book is sold at $4! All interested pupils can place their orders with me. If more detail is required regarding this book, pupils can collect a form from me too.Another enquiry that I received was regarding the Gym session on Mondays. Pupils are required to come to school in their PE attire on Mondays =)Fruity Fridays!Every Friday is Fruit Day! The children will be having a fruit eating session every Friday before recess.
