Happy Chinese New Year!
Dear everyone,
Today was a relaxing and fun day for the children and myself. I'm happy to see that many were in the Chinese traditional costumes. They all look so adorable that I cannot resist snapping pictures of them. Even Vignesh had a traditional costume on! It was great seeing this kind of racial embrace in the class. No half day on 27th Jan 2006
Dear all,
Please take note that on Friday, 27th January 2006, school hours will be as normal. It would not be a half day from 8 - 10 am as stated in the newsletter given earlier on.

Spelling, Mental Sums & Phototaking
Dear parents,
SPELLING
The spelling list is out! I've passed the spelling list to the children today. Spelling will commence on the 6th February Monday as shown on the list and subsequent spellings on the following Mondays. For a start, only 5 words will be tested but the list will increase to a total of 10 words as the children get accustomed to spellings.
MENTAL SUMS
I've also requested the children to have a Mental Sums book [lined exercise book]. Mental Sums will be held fortnightly, on Wednesdays [3.30 pm - 4.00 pm] starting from next week [25th Jan 2006]. Mental sums will go like this. The teacher reads out a question [according to topic taught in class] and children will write down the answer in their book. A total of 5 short questions will be tested. I will be pasting the questions on their exercise books after each Mental Sums exercise so that you are aware of the questions tested. Some of the children had already handed up their books to me, but most of them have not. Please ensure that your child hands up his/her book by next Monday.
PHOTOTAKING
The children will be having phototaking on 25th Jan 2006 [Wed]. This is for their Student Smart Card. Please ensure your child is neatly attired in their normal uniform on that day. I hope there will not be absentees on that day as far as possible!!! =)

Stationery items
Dear parents,
Please take note that I've taught the children on how to complete their corrections. For correction purposes, I've requested that blue or green pen/colour pencil be used. Also, I've realized that many of the children do not have certain essential stationery items with them! For instance, ruler and eraser. Hence, below is a list of stationery items that I hope all children would have by the end of the week.
1. pencil
2. ruler
3. eraser
4. blue or green pen / colour pencil [for corrections]
5. box of colour pencils [for shading their group colour on worksheets as well as other colouring activities]

Photos & Updated timetable
Dear parents and pupils,
Sorry for the lack of updates on this site.
I've uploaded photos of the children that I've taken on various occasions. The links are on the left portion of this page. Feel free to download the photos for your own viewing pleasure.
I'm glad to say that the children are adapting well in class and are able to follow instructions. They are a lively group and hence I would have to assert a certain amount strictness whenever they get out of hand. I hope this would help them to develop self discipline and control. I would appreciate any form of advice from parents as to how discipline can be maintained in 1 Courage.

updated timetable that I've sent out on Friday. I've attached a link on the left hand site of this site for your reference.
There are many queries regarding Spelling. Let me clarify them here.
Spelling would be on every Monday, during the period, 4.30p.m. - 5.00 p.m and would only commence on the 6th week of school.
A total of 5 words would be tested on every Spelling.
The spelling list has not been given the children as yet.
May God's grace guide us all through the 3rd week of school.

Some updates
Dear parents and pupils,
The following books and items have been kept in class for safe keeping. Please take note and ensure your child has handed them to me!
1) English Textbook 1A
2) English Workbook 1A
3) Maths Textbook 1A
4) Maths Workbook 1A
5) Maths Homework Book 1A
6) Report book
7) Portfolio file [thick blue file]
8) Art bag
9) Spelling Book [exercise book]
Note: I would be collecting the coloured plastic files next week [red, yellow, blue, green, orange]
Below are some forms that the pupils are expected to hand up to me
1) Gym form + $15 [in cash or cheque]
2) Dismissal form
3) Parents Details form [This form is given only to some pupils whose parents have not filled up their contact details]
4) Kidztalez
This is a book comprising of all written compositions and poems by KCPPS pupils. It is not compulsory for the children to buy this book, but it is highly encouraged for them to have it!!!!! The children will definitely enjoy reading the stories written by their fellow KCPians and would definitely be motivated to write their own stories! The book is sold at $4! All interested pupils can place their orders with me. If more detail is required regarding this book, pupils can collect a form from me too.
Another enquiry that I received was regarding the Gym session on Mondays. Pupils are required to come to school in their PE attire on Mondays =)
Fruity Fridays!
Every Friday is Fruit Day!
The children will be having a fruit eating session every Friday before recess. This is to promote healthy eating. Please ensure your child brings a slice of fruit or some cut fruits on Fridays.

Welcome & Introduction
Dear pupils and parents,
Welcome to the site of 1 Courage 2006!
I've created this site as a form of information and communication for both pupils and parents. I hope to update the class blog as often as I can so that you can be informed of class and school activities. Photos will be posted to update you on the activities carried out. =)
